Greenwich Instruments GR881 Non Volatile RAM 8K X 8 Manufactured by Cephos Relays Limited in the UK

Non-volatile RAM (NVRAM) is a type of memory that retains stored data even when power is removed, making it ideal for applications where data persistence is critical. Unlike traditional volatile RAM, which loses its contents when powered down, this NVRAM uses battery-backed CMOS memory to preserve information.

The GR881, a 8K x 8-bit CMOS static RAM, remains transportable and functional without external power, by means of an integrated lithium cell.

When powered down, the GR881 is transportable and data can be moved from system to system. Being pin compatible with conventional EPROMs makes it ideal for programme development, data collection in data loggers, programme changes in process control, automation and robotics and user definable lookup tables, etc.

The GR881 can, without external power, retain data almost indefinitely. The limiting factor will be the shelf life of the lithium cell, which is typically ten years.

It is possible that this figure may be extended in view of the extremely light duty imposed upon the cell.
